The Opening of Marbella Luxury Weekend
The floating catwalk caused great excitement among the attendees.
Marbella, 5th of June 2014: The first big day of MLW has been characterised in the only way possible, by the magnitude, glamour and sophistication of its events. Thousands of people have gathered today in Puerto Banús to attend the first day of this amazing event, the main attraction being the great floating catwalk which is sponsored by the Club del Mar Plaza Beach.
Wolford, Swarovski and Sena Design were the three fashion firms responsible for the opening of the Marbella Luxury Catwalk, an unprecedented fashion event where new collections and the beautiful features of their designs were unveiled.
Wolford presented a collection combining elegance and femininity which was perfectly complemented by Swarovski accessories, the selected jewellery highlighting the freshness of the designs. The catwalk outfits were designed as the ideal ´looks´ for women to wear at all times of day, with pieces ranging from an ethnic look to a seventies style, to minimalist inspiration and art-deco.
The Swarovski collection clearly demonstrates their inspiration for this season: tribal-glam. A collection inspired by the works of art and traditional crafts of African cultures, modernized and updated in search of a more contemporary and casual style. The key colours used are: golds mixed with transparent glass, warm yellows, browns and natural earth tones.
Sena Design created a big impact on the catwalk with its style, elegance and sophistication. The colours and the qualities of the silks didn’t go unnoticed by the audience that enthusiastically applauded the unique designs.
But without doubt, one of the most important moments of the day has been the grand opening party this evening, which took place in the VIP Torre and the VIP Levante areas. The Mayor of Marbella, Ángeles Muñoz, and the Counsellor of Tourism, José Luis Hernández were both present. They showed their appreciation to the participating companies and brands at MLW’14 and stressed the importance of this great event “it has become an essential event for the Costa del Sol”.
During the event other familiar faces were spotted such as model Veronica Hidalgo, who was the master of ceremonies; Cristina Muñoz, the president of the SOS Foundation, María León, stylist and godmother of the SOS Foundation, Sandra García Sanjuan, Starlite promoter, and also the Mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, and the Counsellor of Tourism, José Luis Hernández. During the opening ceremony the model and presenter Veronica Hidalgo underlined the importance of the MLW for businesses and citizens of Marbella, “an event which is becoming more important year on year”.
The Mayor thanked all the firms involved in MLW for their collaboration, “without which this great event would not be impossible.” She said the event’s main objective is “to make the world see the quality and brand strength of Marbella”. She added that “the quality of the events is increasing year after year, remaining unique and innovative.”
Finally, Ángeles Muñoz thanked the efforts of entrepreneurs and the private sector. In this sense, the Counsellor of Tourism, José Luis Hernández particularly thanked “drive”, “perseverance” and “consistency” of three of the directors of the firms that most “supported this initiative.” Thus, they received an award by the City Hall Maribi Picconi representing Bulgari; Carla Hijma, director of Boutique Tourbillon, and Manuel Jimenez, head of Salvatore Ferragamo.
Cristina Muñoz and María León, after viewing a video summary of the work of the NGOs in Spain and on behalf of the Foundation SOS encouraged guests to contribute to the raffle and an auction will be held on Sunday in the VIP area de la Torre.
Throughout the evening, attendees had the opportunity to enjoy the wonderful catering by Dani García ConcinaCONTRAdicción. There were also amazing performances with the solo artist Celia Vergara, the trumpeter Patxi Urchegui and Roberto Bazán on the trombone. A spectacular trio, along with the dancers from REA Danza, were responsible for the opening gala. Each of them is an expert in their own field and a career that puts them among the greatest in our country.
Meanwhile, the young and renowned DJ’s, Carlos Lindahl and Yvett Lindquist were responsible for livening up the rest of the night.
