Marbella, 28 November 2024 – Hotel Don Pepe Gran Meliá Marbella has announced the launch of an exclusive programme of activities to commemorate its 60th anniversary, coinciding with the arrival of the Christmas season. Among the main proposals is the opening of an XTRAICE synthetic ice rink, a unique experience that has not been offered in Marbella for some time. The rink will be surrounded by a Christmas market, with a variety of stalls contributing to the festive atmosphere for all visitors. These initiatives will be available from the 28th of November until the 7th of January.
The celebration began with an inaugural event that brought together prominent local authorities, including the Mayor of Marbella, María Ángeles Muñoz, who had the honor of initiating the lighting of the dazzling Christmas lights alongside Rocío Galán, Operations Director of Meliá Costa del Sol, and Noelia Castillo, General Manager of the Hotel Don Pepe Gran Meliá. Following their remarks and the inaugural toast, the event was enlivened by a choir of 40 children from the Marbella British School.

An ice rink and Christmas market
The Hotel Don Pepe Gran Meliá in Marbella has inaugurated this year its first great Christmas proposal, which promises to be one of the most outstanding experiences of the season. At the centre of this celebration, the hotel presents its new XTRAICE synthetic ice rink, an eco-friendly facility that offers the opportunity to skate on ice while enjoying unparalleled views of the Mediterranean Sea. With a surface area of 119.65 m² and capacity for 26 simultaneous skaters, the rink will be open to the public throughout the Christmas season, providing an accessible leisure option for the whole family.
The rink’s operating hours will be as follows:
- From 28th November to 1st December: Thursday and Friday from 17:00 to 20:30h; Saturday and Sunday from 13:00 to 20:00h.
- From 2nd to 22nd December: Wednesday and Thursday from 16:00 to 20:00h; Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 13:00 to 20:00h.
- From 23rd December to 6th January: Monday to Sunday from 13:00 to 20:00h.
The cost for 25 minutes of skating is 20 €, including one hour of parking. Hotel guests who book at the ERRE & Urrechu restaurant will receive a free pass to enjoy the ice rink during their stay.
Next to the rink, a Christmas market with various stalls has been set up, highlighting the gastronomic offer where visitors can savour festive cocktails, hot drinks and a selection of tapas, as well as textiles and handicrafts unique to the region. Traditional delicacies include roasted chestnuts, churros with chocolate and glühwein, the typical Christmas mulled wine. A selection of local handicrafts and gourmet products will also be available for purchase in a space decorated with the festive warmth of the season. Beyond the commercial offer, the event aims to immerse guests in a unique Christmas atmosphere by the sea, where tradition and the relaxed atmosphere of the hotel merge to create a unique experience.
Christmas gastronomy at the ERRE & Urrechu Restaurant
During the Christmas holidays, the ERRE & Urrechu restaurant offers a special gastronomic proposal for those looking for a different culinary experience on Christmas Eve (24th December) and New Year’s Eve (31st December). The exclusive menus designed for these dates, from €45 per person, combine the excellence of grilled cuisine with the traditional flavours of Christmas, offering a fusion of the classic and the modern, in dishes such as glazed suckling lamb, white veal osso buco and roasted turbot.
