  • In less than 6 months following its opening, Óbal Urban Hotel is the only hotel in Spain to have simultaneously obtained five certifications in Quality, Environment, Occupational Health and Safety in the workplace, Universal Accessibility and Tourist Quality.

Marbella, 24th of June 2024.- The Óbal Urban Hotel has become the only hotel in Spain to have simultaneously gained five certifications in certifications in Quality, Environment, Occupational Health and Safety in the workplace, Universal Accessibility and Tourist Quality. This recognition positions the Óbal Urban Hotel as a leader in the hotel sector, highlighting its commitment to excellence and sustainability, both with external and internal clients.

The OCA Global reported that the Institute for Spanish Touristic Quality has awarded this month the hotel the UNE-ISO 22483:2020 Hotels certificate, known as the Q for Tourism Quality. This certificate, exclusive for the hotel sector, evaluates aspects such as reception management, cleaning, maintenance, food and beverage management, events, leisure activities and environmental management. The Q for Tourism Quality certification ensures that the hotel offers high quality services and meets rigorous standards, which only a few hotels in Spain have achieved.

The consulting firm Q-Innovate has been the company hired to help in the implementation of the Comprehensive Management System of all these standards.

This certification is added to those already obtained:

  • ISO 9001 Quality: This international standard guarantees the hotel’s services and processes meet the highest quality management standards. Processes are reviewed regularly to ensure a superior experience for guests. Only hotels that demonstrate consistent, effective management obtain this certification.
  • ISO 14001 Environment: Recognizes the effective management of the hotel’s environmental impacts, promoting sustainable practices and the protection of the environment. This certification is granted to hotels that implement environmental management systems and are committed to reducing their ecological footprint.
  • ISO 45001 Workplace Health and Safety: Ensures a safe and healthy work environment, minimising risks and promoting employee well-being. This certification is crucial for any organisation that wants to protect its staff and maintain high standards of workplace safety.
  • ISO 170001 Universal Accessibility: Certifies that the hotel facilities are accessible to all people, including those with disabilities. This certification ensures an inclusive experience for all guests, something that only a limited number of hotels have achieved.

Obtaining these certifications has been possible thanks to the management and leadership of José Juan Avilés, Director of Human Resources and Certifications of Solvento Group, as well as Head of the Comprehensive Management System in the case of the hotel, and Inmaculada García of the Resources Department Human Resources and Certifications of Solvento Group. This achievement underlines Óbal Urban Hotel’s commitment to operational excellence and social and environmental responsibility.
